Following the result of the Labour Party elections for Leader and Deputy Leader, Karin Smyth MP said:
“Congratulations to Jeremy Corbyn and Tom Watson on their leadership election successes.
“It is of course important now for the Labour Party to unite, but not for the Party’s sake. It is important because this enables us to explain, campaign and convince people who suffer from – and whose opportunities are limited by – Tory government policies.
“Labour faces a huge task to overturn Conservative majorities in seats across the country, and especially in the south of England. I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead shaping Labour’s offer to millions of people who voted for other parties in May.
“I also look forward to working with our new all-male leadership team to ensure the voices of women are at the heart of our party’s policies.”
