Fundraising for the Poppy Appeal

Karin Smyth took part in a charity static bike ride in Parliament to support the Royal British Legion, raising money for the Poppy Appeal in an event hosted by the Industry and Parliament Trust (IPT).

The money raised from the bike ride will help the Royal British Legion provide lifelong support for the armed forces community. The Poppy Appeal has the prestigious position of being the only charity to fundraise in Parliament.

The Labour MP cycled 2.52 km in five minutes as part of a 12 hour event in which MPs, Peers and Parliamentary officials took it in turns to cycle. The event followed on from the success of the previous IPT static bike ride held in 2012 when money was raised for the Poppy Factory.
