Democracy discussions as school councillors meet MP

Fair Furlong Nov 2015 webMembers of a Withywood Primary School Council met their local MP to exchange views on the way they carry out their respective roles.

Bristol South MP Karin Smyth met the Fair Furlong Primary School Council to learn about the work they do representing the views of their fellow pupils during a visit on 6 November. And she explained to the council members – all of whom have been elected by their peers – her own work representing south Bristol constituents, answering a number of questions from the children, aged 5-11.

“The children take a great pride in playing an important role in the way Fair Furlong Primary is run,” said Karin Smyth.

“It has been recognised as an outstanding school, and it’s clear that with these youngsters helping shape the school’s ambitions, the future is very bright for Fair Furlong.”
