Council election results: Now the hard work starts, says MP

SW regional Conference Nov 2015Following Bristol’s election result declarations over the weekend, Bristol South MP Karin Smyth says the hard work starts now for Labour’s newly elected team.

“Congratulations to Bristol’s new mayor Marvin Rees and all of the Labour councillors newly elected to serve across the city,” she said.

“Massive thanks are due to the fantastic team of volunteers, who worked tirelessly in a gruelling election period to explain how Labour values can make a difference to the lives of people living across the south of the city.

“Many of those people gave Labour representatives the biggest honour a politician ever earns: the trust conveyed by their vote, so Labour’s team will now redouble its efforts to repay that.

“As part of Bristol South’s newly-formed Labour team, I know that the hard work really starts now. Labour’s representatives will be working day-in, day-out, listening hard and representing people in communities across south Bristol, continuing to reach out to understand and act on the things that matter to those they serve.”
