Have your say on impact of council cuts

South Bristol residents are being asked by their local MP for their views about how multi-million pound cuts being made by Bristol City Council should be implemented.

Changes to government funding have led to the council announcing £64 million of cuts to services for the financial year 2017-18.

Bristol South MP Karin Smyth’s new survey asks for local opinion about council priorities as they implement government-imposed cuts. It is available as hard copy and online

Karin Smyth says: “The way these cuts are made is a matter for the council, but as south Bristol’s MP I have been making clear that I want them to prioritise support for children, older people, and those who are most vulnerable, as well as protecting people living in the most deprived communities, who often rely on vital services that could now face the axe.

“I also share concerns that some of the things people in south Bristol rely on, like buses and school lollipop patrols, could be threatened.

“The aim of this survey is to help ensure I can hear from people who will be directly affected by the cuts, so I can take concerns directly to the government and to the city council as they plan ahead.”
